Amy P., PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Emory University
Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, University of North Carolina at Charlotte
A former high school softball coach with a background in athletic training, Amy enjoyed working with young athletes and using play as a means of helping children develop their gross motor abilities, which led her to a career as a physical therapist.
Amy’s earliest experience was working with babies and toddlers through the Babies Can’t Wait early intervention program, and she has extensive experience working with children under the age of five. She is adept at incorporating activities into daily life and the child’s natural environment and is passionate about helping children attain the ability to access environments or activities that were previously challenging for them. She loves seeing kids get excited to try new things because they have developed the strength, coordination, and balance to do so successfully. Amy is a registered practitioner of Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI), a comprehensive intervention used by physical and occupational therapists to treat children with gross motor impairments.
A native of North Carolina, Amy moved to Atlanta to attend graduate school and decided to put down roots in Cumming. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.
